May 2006

This month brought a lot of travel for the boys and myself...and for us as a family!!  First the boys and I went for a 4 day visit up to the White Mountains with my friend Lisa and her 2 1/2 year old twins Stephen and Megan.  We had a really fun time going for hikes, visiting the hotel, and going on day trips.  It was a lot of fun to be able to travel with a friend and her kids.  We also celebrated Sasha's birthday with a bbq at the house.  We went to Peterborough for Caleb's communion, followed by a social at PJ O'Rourke's house (he is a satirical political author!)  We spent Mother's Day with Sasha's mom and Stepdad in Epsom, NH.

And of course the highlight of our month...our ten day adventure to Holland!!!  May 18th-29th, 2006.  Where we saw friends and family alike...incredible!!!

We flew via London Heathrow airport...not the most double jogger friendly, but we made do.  The kids did amazingly with the time change on the way over.  They slept about 2 hours total and then just went about their day with little whining or complaining.  That first night we put them to bed at their regular bedtime at 630pm, and they slept until the next day at 1115am!!!

On Monday May 22nd (Doreen and Ron's anniversary!!!) we drove to Hilversum to have lunch with my Aunt Marisette and Uncle Robbie.  We had a lovely visit...the kids played, got to go around the property on the grandchildren's path, and went for a wonderful walk in the "Hilversumse Bos"...there is a definite theme to our trip...lots of walks...right up my alley.

On Tuesday May 23, 2006 we went to Bloemendaal to visit with my Dad's younger brother Oom Rob and Tante Wil.  They were housesitting for some people...so we met at that house.  Afterwards we drove to Bloemendaal aan Zee to visit the grave site of one of my mom's Uncle's who was in the resistance during WWII and who was killed.  It was a very memorable visit for us.  Plus afterwards Sasha ate raw herring for the first time ever!!!  He did really well with that!
