June 26, 2005 update - This month was once again a HUGE month!!! Sasha was in California...this time with a few camera phone pictures (not the best of quality), and our week long Kempers family vacation in Sebasco Bay, Maine (near Bath). While in Maine we went to the YMCA daily for our swims (the boys stayed back with the fam), went to the pond of all ponds, the beach, for walks, played golf, played games, and just enjoyed each other immensely.
April 6, 2005 update - This month (March) was filled with lots of milestones; Spencer 1 1/2 years old and James 4 months old, Sasha in California, Boston night out for Sasha and myself, visit from my parents, girls weekend away and Easter, snowshoeing and more!!! It was jam packed!
Sasha was in San Francisco for work (3/15-19) and stayed for one extra day to see family and friends. He got to see his dad Max for dinner on Wednesday night, then on Friday a jam packed day seeing Kashaya (in Petaluma), Marcella in Cotati, and Martin (best man!) and his lovely wife Rebecca in Novato. Since Sasha did not have our camera with him none of this was captured on film (or should I say digitally?) We just got picture cell phones, so his next trip should be well documented! The boys and I did great during his absence...although we did miss him terribly. Then on Saturday I left the boys with my sister and drove to Boston to pick Sasha up at the airport. We then went on to our hotel and got ready for the Harvard Hasty Pudding production of "Terms of Frontierment", which was hysterically funny! On Sunday we drove back to Peterborough to see the boys where we did a beautiful 3 mile snowshoe around the back of their property.
March 23rd my parents flew in to watch the boys for a few days so that Doreen and I could go for a few days rest in the White Mountains near Bretton Woods Ski Resort and Mount Washington. This was an absolute blessing. Mom and Dad got to hang out with the boys without their mom around, and I got a few days off!!! Yeah! Doreen was very lucky to have her in-laws Jeri and Keith fly up to watch their kids. Wow! What great support we have!!! Then after the weekend we spent Easter all as one big family!
While we were gone the boys where in great hands! My parents watched them during the day (meaning the YMCA and Starbucks in the morning for Spencer and Grandpa), and bonding time for James and Grandma, then Sasha helped put them to bed at night and get them up in the morning.
Easter Sunday started out at home with the parents, then we all drove to Doreen and Ron's in Peterborough to join their neighbors Carol and Vinnie in an Easter Egg hunt (2nd annual!) followed by a catered brunch at the Michalak's house. It was great!!!
March 8, 2005 update - February was a great month! Albeit with a few challenges. We had some great family outings which we cherish immensely! We visited Plum Island in Newburyport, MA and The Crane Estate in Ipswich, MA. We also squeezed in a trip to see our friends Karen and Greg Ogrinc in Lebanon, NH which was very nice to catch up. Then we continued onto a visit with Doreen and gang in Peterborough, NH. Unfortunately Spencer is not a very good sleepover guest right now and cries a lot and often during the night when we go for an overnight visit, so we are currently limiting these.
Our big transition this month was putting the boys in the same room. The first weekend we were all up very early...so little sleep, but besides that things went absolutely much better than I had ever expected...hooray!!! Every day is getting better...we just need to work on our nap schedules which is taking a bit of time to get used to. This month Sasha finds himself in San Francisco for work for a week. Then my parents are coming out the week after to watch the boys, so that I can go on a girls retreat for three days...I can't wait!!!
January 1, 2005 update - Happy New Year to all!!! I have updated our December page, which includes lots of time spent with family and friends and the Christmas holidays. James and Spencer are growing every day. Spencer almost has all of his teeth, each new one seems to be more painful than the last. He is down to one nap a day, and is extremely adventuresome. We enjoy his endeavors tons! James is almost 8 weeks old, and is doing extremely well, although he is still not sleeping through the night. So I am still up every few hours, which is hard. Sasha's cousin Kashaya came to us on December 4th and has been a huge help! I have no idea what life will be like without her...if only for her awesome company. I have started swimming already and going for lots of walks. Sasha has finally been able to enjoy some time off and is preparing for his new position within Wyeth BioPharma. I hope that this finds you all well!
December 3, 2004 update - Well I am happy to report that I have updated our Thanksgiving holiday week!!! I did not think it would be possible. I still have on my list of things to do: Respond to e-mails, send thank you cards, print and mail out baby announcements, finish/print and send Christmas card photos, write our annual Christmas newsletter...so as you can tell...I have sooo much more to do!!! But, I really wanted to publish these picture from our incredibly successful Thanksgiving. We had a blast (as can be seen on the photos). We ate tons of great meals (provided largely by Ron!), took lots of hikes (not me), played with the kids, rested (that would be me!), and just enjoyed family.
Between Sasha, my parents and sister I have had a lot of help with the adjustment to having two kids. Sasha took the night shift last night so that I could finally get more than two consecutive hours of sleep, which was great! Spencer is also adjusting to having a baby brother, and I think he is actually excited about having the company. I am still learning how to juggle their needs, but will have Sasha's cousin Kashaya here for four weeks to hopefully get me on the right track. We will be spending Christmas Eve with Sasha's mom and step dad here in Haverhill, and will hopefully see more family throughout the holidays. Besides that we are looking forward to just being together and enjoying life!
The next update will probably not come until next year, just because I kind of have my hands full right now.
November 19, 2004 Update - Okay, so this is starting to be a quarterly update sheet...not too good on my part, I guess that shows how busy we have been lately! I am sure that most of you have heard by now that we have added on to our little family. We are now a very happy family of four! Yes we have had another beautiful baby boy!!! His name is James Adrian (James because we really like the name, and wanted to stay along the English line and Adrian in honor of my dad, whose middle name is also Adrian...although spelled the Dutch way.) He was born via c-section on November 10, 2004 at 12:38pm. He weighed 7 lbs and 10 oz. He is 21 1/2 inches long. He was a bit jaundiced, but we think we have that under control. He had his first bath today...very exciting stuff! Sasha's mom came for a visit to the hospital, as did a couple of my friends. Then my mom came in to help relieve Sasha of Mr. Mom duties for a couple of days. My parents are now off to NYC for the Stuyvesant Ball and will be back on Sunday. Next week we will be spending Thanksgiving in Peterborough, NH surrounded by loved ones, we can't wait!!!
Spencer has had a bit more challenges with the adjustment than I would have realized. He had such an amazing time at my sisters for five days, and was basically ready to stay forever!!! Then he was brought back home to a mom who had strict orders to stay in bed (which I have not fully followed!), and a new brother who seems to be getting a lot of attention. Not exactly what he had bargained for. Every day is better than the last. My pain seems to be getting better (and then worse...but ultimately better.) And Spencer is getting a lot of Grandparent/Daddy time, which he does enjoy. Lots of walks, trips to the airport, YMCA and Starbucks!
July 12, 2004 Update - This is starting to be a monthly update sheet...I have been sooo super busy that the days are just flying by...before you know it it will be fall again. Some exciting news...we are expecting another little one this November. Due to the size of Spencer the Doctor is suggesting doing a scheduled c-section, which should be much easier to coordinate with Spencer. We are absolutely thrilled and feel very blessed to be so extremely fertile! I am now about 21 weeks, so the time is flying by. We always talked about having the kids close in age, and we are getting our wish! The next few years will be jam packed, but oh so worth it!!!
July 4th was a very busy day, we started off with a lunch at Sasha's Moms house. Then proceeded from there to Peterborough for an inaugural dinner on Doreen and Ron's brand new screened in porch. What a family filled day! We really enjoyed ourselves. This past weekend we drove up to Boothbay Harbor were we all spent the weekend on Mouse Island, which is where Aletta's family owns a house. What a blast was had by all!!! We had such a super good time that we hope to make it an annual tradition. Aletta is also due, so our kids are going to be very close in age, which will be so much fun as the years go by!

Sasha, Spencer, Helen, Doreen, Sydney, Schuyler, Ron, Caleb, Aletta, and Johnny.
June 7, 2004 Update- On June 6th I finally graduated with an Associate in Science degree! I majored in Criminal Justice. I actually finished my degree 1 1/2 years ago, but got around to graduating this month! I was blessed to have so much family present for the ceremony. My parents flew in for the event on Friday afternoon, then we drove up to Burlington, Vermont for a Saturday night dinner with Sasha's Uncle Igor and Aunt Patty. A real celebratory dinner which was incredible! Sunday morning we took a great walk by Lake Champlain and enjoyed the magnificent views! Then it was off to Northfield, were the ceremony was taking place. We were met there by Igor and Patty Zbitnoff and Doreen and Ron and kids after they finished running the Covered Bridges 1/2 Marathon in Woodstock/Quechee Vermont. Needless to say it was a family filled event. That night we all ended up at Karen and Greg Ogrinc house in Lebanon NH for an impromptu dinner.

Caleb M, Schuyler M, Hans K, Anita K, Doreen M, Sydney M, Spencer Z, Helen Z, Ron M, Sasha Z, Patty Z, Igor Z ~~~ All the faithful family members attending my graduation!!!
June 1, 2004 Update- It has been more than a month since my last update...we have been sooo busy!!! Spencer now has two teeth, is pulling himself up and is crawling!! He is sooo amazing! We have been inundated with family this past month which has been wonderful. Spending lots of times with the cousins in Peterborough (communions, Birthdays, Memorial Day, Hikes, etc.) We also had Sasha's dad Max come for a week long visit, which was very productive and we got a lot done around the house, which is great! Sasha's mom made it down for a visit with us, which was very nice. Spencer had not seen her since he was 4 weeks old, but he adored her just the same! Sasha's paternal Aunt Patty and Uncle Igor make frequent jaunts by our place now that they live in Burlington, VT...that has also been extremely nice. Next weekend will be my graduation from the Community College of Vermont in Northfield. It seems a bit anticlimactic since I finished almost a year and a half ago. We will be in Burlington for a dinner the night before with Igor and Patty and my parents who are making the trip North. Then we will have a visit from Sasha's Aunt Tam and Cousin Melanyon. That should be lots of fun. I hope that Tam will give me some advice and help in my garden (I am trying to put a garden in the place of our pond...seems safer.) Then Doreen, myself and all the kids are off to Atlanta for a week. There we will see our Aunt Kathinka and Uncle Ru who are visiting my parents from New Zealand. They have not met any of our kids (except maybe Sydney), so this should be lots of fun!!!
April 19, 2004 update: Today is our 1st anniversary! Yeah! It is unbelievable to think how far we have gotten and how many things we have done. Our family just keeps growing, we are very excited! Sasha and I had a very social weekend. Saturday we had the Zbitnoff's over for coffee (it is wonderful having Igor and Patty so close by, it gives us an opportunity to get to see them more often.) Then we met friends for lunch which Sasha had won. That was very fun. Spencer and I drove up to Peterborough yesterday to spend the day helping celebrate Caleb's birthday (where I felt Spencer's second tooth coming through!) We will actually be there on his actual day of birth, but he had a party on Sunday. The next two weeks are very full for Sasha, a full week of school this week, with his two night classes on top of it. Then next week he has finals, plus he will be in Philly Wednesday and Thursday for a training. We are looking forward to the 8th of May when we are dropping Spencer off with my sister, and we are running away for the night! It should be great!!!
April 10, 2004 update: It's almost been a month since my last update! Wow so much has happened. Spencer has his first tooth! (Left front). He can roll over, but still refuses to do it, he prefers to sit on the floor or bounce in his jolly jumper (just like his dad when he was little.) He has a hearty appetite and is growing extremely fast. He is enjoying hanging out with me in the garden while I work out there.
Sasha and I have bought a mini van! Yes, I got rid of my Jeep and am going for the more family wagon. It is an awesome buy! It fits 8 passengers and rides extremely smoothly. We are very excited!
March 15, 2004 update (March pictures): I can't believe the time is flying by so fast! Last weekend was nutty! Sasha flew out to the UK on Friday, then on Saturday around lunch time Doreen and Ron dropped the kids off to spend the day/night with Spencer and I (anything not to have to be alone...!) We had a great time, the kids were very good. The only downer was that Schuyler was sick, but besides that we went on walks, watched movies, and just hung out. Then on Monday Spencer and I drove up to Lebanon, NH to hang out with the Ogrinc clan. It was great to spend time with Karen, Greg and the kids. Even Spencer slept well!! Wednesday Sasha returned from the UK and had class at night. Thursday my parents came in for one night en route to Peterborough...always a huge treat! On Saturday we enjoyed a "family" day and went to Amesbury, MA (on the ocean) we went and explored and hiked...very nice and not very busy at all despite the gale force winds! Saturday we had dinner with neighbors down the street, very nice! Today Spencer and I had another lovely lesson at the YMCA. This time Sasha came to capture some shots...so check out the page for March 2004! Till next time.
March 3, 2004 update: Well we have hit a big milestone!!! Today is Spencer's half birthday! We celebrated by going to the doctor's and getting 3 shots...what a hoot! Here are the vital stats: Height 28.5 inches (95th percentile), weight 18.6 (75th percentile) and head circumference 44.2 cm (50th percentile). He is a growing healthy big boy! This week also marked our 25th anniversary of living in the US!!! I can't believe it has been sooo long! Where has the time gone? This past Saturday night Sasha and I got a sitter (our trusty reliable Isabel) and went to Cambridge to see the Hasty Pudding (Harvard Undergraduates) annual musical, this year called "As the Word Turns". It was absolutely phenomenal, and something we hope to do on a yearly basis!! Spencer and I have started our "Mommy and Me" swimming class at the YMCA which is lots of fun! Friday Sasha will be traveling to the UK for business (and a quick visit with Stu), and Spencer and I will be visiting with Karen and Greg for one night next week in Lebanon. My parent's are coming up next week for one night, on their way to the Michalak's in Peterborough. It is very busy and hectic...but we are loving life! Plus the weather has been absolutely spring like! Till next time.
February 25, 2004 update: Well time just flies...first California...then one week home, then Spencer and I were off to Atlanta. Sasha had to be in Ireland for business so my parents were generous enough to send us a frequent flyer ticket, which we enjoyed thoroughly!!! Spencer was awesome! He kept to his schedule and had no troubles sleeping at all at my parents house. I got to go to the movies one night with my dad, "Girl with a Pearl Earring", which was very good. The movie was about a Dutch painter, Vermeer, who painted in the city my dad studied in, Delft. This was cool because he recognized a lot of different things! Then we left Spencer with a sitter and went to the Club for their regular Wednesday night dinner, which was extremely social. Then Thursday night we left Spencer with a sitter again...and went off to see a play parodying Buckhead life called, "Veranda". It was very funny, although the first half was not as good as the second half. The week flew by and before I knew it we were home again. Sasha, Spencer and I had a weekend of doing almost absolutely nothing! We were all exhausted!!! And happy to be home. This week we are just getting back into the swing of things back home!
February 8, 2004 update: We just got back from California last night...and we are still recovering! Wow, what a great time was had...but very exhausting! We spent one night in San Francisco with Martin Cate (his wife Rebecca was on a business trip!), then we had lunch with Max, Sasha's dad, followed by the pitching of his tent and a walk. On Saturday night we spent the night at Sasha's old college girlfriend Marcella's house in Cotati. Then we drove the 2 remaining hours up to Emandal where we watched the Superbowl, where Spencer and I stayed for an awesome four days bonding with the awesome Adams family (lots of cousins to dote on him!). Our last two nights where spent in Sacramento with Uncle Bob and Aunt Mary Kelleher. We got extremely lucky with our flights because Spencer got an extra seat both ways, although his outbound flight he slept most of the way and his return flight he did not...makes a Huge difference!!! I will update all the photos this week, then Sunday Spencer and I are off to Atlanta to visit my folks while Sasha spends a week in Ireland for work, we can't wait!
January 30, 2004 update: We are getting ready for our trip to California! Should be a blast. This past Saturday I enjoyed a Tarot Tea at our friend Jen Campbell's house. I got a reading from a friend which was eye opening and validating and left me feeling very happy. Then on Saturday Sasha and I went out for "date night", dinner and a movie. We saw "Along Came Polly", which was laugh out loud funny! So a very busy weekend. On Tuesday/Wednesday Spencer and I went to Peterborough, NH so I could work some more on our photo albums. Then yesterday we drove to Spencer, Massachusetts to have lunch with Sasha's Aunt Lisa, which was absolutely delightful!

January 20, 2004 update: My dear friend Martine Beer-Soffers came for a week long visit, which was very fun (January 13-19, 2004). The weather was at a record low for New England, so at times it was just too dangerous to go outside for long, but we had a great time regardless. On the weekend Martine, Sasha, Spencer and I went to Doreen and Ron's for a wonderful visit. Martine got the opportunity to snowshoe with Doreen on the lake, the kids got to show off their sledding hill, and their skating abilities. And the adults played a wild game of Cranium (yes, the team Ron was on won again!!!)
1/13/2004 update: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! (A bit belated I know!) So much has happened since my last update! New Year's Eve came and went (we fell asleep at 10pm Eastern time...Oops!) Although we did spend the time to go over all the things we were grateful for in the year 2003...and the list was extremely long and full! Sasha had another 4 day weekend, and we enjoyed it fully. On the 3rd of January we had lunch at his Grandfather's house to celebrate his 76th birthday, and see Sasha's Uncle Brian who was visiting from Jersey City, NJ (although he likes to tell people he lives in Manhattan...which he can see from his apartment window!). On the 5th Spencer had his 4 month check up. He now weighs 16.8 lbs and is 27 inches tall. He also had to get 5 shots...he was very brave! On the 6th Spencer and I went to Peterborough to invade the Michalak home...where Doreen and I worked on photo albums into the night. On the 10th our friends Steve and Susan had an open house at their new house...really nice to see our old neighbors! We were home in time for Spencer's regular bedtime and to see the Patriots get one step closer to the Super Bowl! On the 11th we went up to Lebanon, NH to help our friend Andy Ogrinc celebrate his 6th birthday party. Today my very good friend Martine is flying in to spend a week with us...very exciting!!!
12/29/2003 update: (updated pictures are being worked on!!!) What a wonderful Holiday season we have had, filled with family and friends! My parents flew in on Sunday December 21st and stayed with Sasha, Spencer and I for two nights before heading to Peterborough, NH. It was extremely nice to have them here! The first night my parents were here we had a lovely winter equinox dinner with Alexandra Delp, Cousin Yuri and Shirley Zbitnoff, Uncle Igor and Patty Zbitnoff (who were visiting here from California, but will soon be moving to Vermont!!!) Spencer got to have a semi sleep over at our friend Bara's house. During her stay my mom built an incredibly handy beam for Spencer's jolly jumper (now he doesn't have to look into the bathroom anymore!) And she put up a coat rack for us in the ping pong room, very convenient! On Wednesday the 24th of December Sasha, Spencer and I drove up to Peterborough to celebrate Christmas Eve and Christmas day with the Michalak's and my parents. It was an extremely wonderful visit. We ate great food, received many great gifts (including a digital camera that I am having a blast with, a crib CD player, tons of stuff for Spencer, including a personalized crate for him to keep his toys in!!!) played fun games and had a wonderful Christmas day snowshoe.
On December 27th (my dad's birthday) Sasha and I threw a very grown up Holiday Cocktail party which we declared a success! We were overwhelmed with the turnout!! Family from all sides were present. Sasha's maternal Aunt Lisa Farnham, Paternal cousin Yuri and Shirley, Paternal Uncle Igor and Patty, my sister and kids, my parents among many friends. All in all a very fun and family oriented evening.
12/11/03 update: It is hard to believe almost 2 weeks have gone by since our last update. Lots has gone on...including a Nor'Easter (almost 2 feet of snow!), which means snowblowing, getting a Christmas tree, mailing out our Holiday letter, and going shopping!!! I am happy to report that things are going extremely well. I have updated some more pages for you, so enjoy! I hope your holiday is happy and healthy and filled with as many family and friends as our days will be.
11/30/2003 update: Well Thanksgiving has come and gone! It is now a sunny Sunday, and Sasha is off doing his thing. We have had such a splendid four day weekend that I could not wait to share. Thursday we went down to Jamaica Plain (a 1 hour drive) to celebrate a wonderful Turkey day with his paternal cousin Yuri and his wife Shirley. They also had their really good friend Amy there for the festivities. Shirley cooked a fabulous meal! And the company was great! We laughed and we cried...okay just kidding! After that we schlepped Mr. Man all the way across the state to have dessert at Sasha's maternal side of the family a (1 1/4 hour drive). We saw his Aunts Lisa and Gail, Lisa's husband Paul, cousin Molly and Ginny (and her husband Jason and their adorable 3-year old daughter Sophie), Paul's son Dean and his wife April, and Sasha's Grandfather Boompa. We then drove home (1 1/2 hours). To only turn around again in the morning to spend a glorious afternoon with his Grandfather at his home (1 1/2 hours). His Grandfather who has played the piano forever sat down behind his baby grand and gave us a personal concert! Absolutely brilliant! Then yesterday we drove to Doreen's in Peterborough (1 1/2 hours each way) to have a lovely dinner with them and Ron's parents Jeri and Keith who were visiting from Marathon Florida. A wonderful way to round out a family filled weekend! Oh and by the way Mr. Man was incredible! He enjoyed meeting new people and seeing the ones he already knows. It might take a bit to get him back onto his schedule, but it was worth it!!! Hope your T-day weekend was just a great as ours!
11/25/2003 update: I still have not finished my Atlanta page yet...bad me!!! But here is another update on our lives back in Haverhill. This past weekend Sasha and I really regrouped after our successful trip to Hotlanta. When we got back from Atlanta it took the little man a few days to get back into a routine of sorts...and Sasha had a very busy week. We got back Sunday late afternoon, then he had a meeting after work on Monday, class on Wednesday night and in St. Louis from Thursday early morning until Friday late. Spencer and I took the opportunity to go hang out with the cousins on Thursday night, which was wonderful as usual! Then over the weekend the three of us went to Wellesley College and took a beautiful walk around their lake. Besides my back which has been screaming in pain for about a week now, it was a tranquil event. Saturday night we had our friend Jen Campbell over for dinner (she actually brought the dinner which was a real treat.) This week has been going smoothly so far, the little man and I took a wonderful walk yesterday and today...the weather is holding up strong! Thanksgiving will find us with Sasha's side of the family. We will celebrate Turkey day with his cousin Yuri and his wife Shirley, should be very nice and relaxing, plus they will meet Spencer for the first time! Then we will hook up with some of his Aunts from his mom's side of the family on Friday, they adore Spencer and will probably smother him with love!
11/17/2003 update can be found on the Atlanta 2003 page.
11/4/03 update: We are experiencing a very gray New England day today, and Spencer and I still went for our most beloved walk this morning! Nothing will keep us inside! This weekend was a very busy one! Friday (Halloween) the three of us went to Danvers, Mass (right outside of Salem, the witch's capital) for our friends Jen and Brandon's wedding. It was a great night! Met new friends, danced to some great music (while Spencer slept soundly in the Baby Bjorn), and ate great food. The hotel room experience even went smoothly. Spencer fell right back to sleep when we returned to the room (after putting on jammies and nursing of course!) The only sad thing is the fact that we forgot to take pictures...and I even remembered to bring my camera!!! After a lovely breakfast on Saturday the three of us returned home and spent a relaxing afternoon vegging. Sunday Sasha studied while I got to run some much needed errands.
Monday Sasha and I took Spencer in for his 2 month check up (Yes he is already 2 months old!!!) He is now 13.8 lbs, and 24 1/4 inches tall. He had to get 4 shots. He did remarkably well. We are extremely proud of him! We are getting ready for our much anticipated trip! My parents haven't seen Spencer since he was 1 week old...and he has changed sooo much!!! We can't wait for this family vacation. My next update may not be until after we return, with hopefully tons of pictures!
Big milestone: Spencer is sleeping in his own crib in his own room!!! He is so excited! (as are we!).
10/27/2003 update: Wow another great weekend! Last week flew by, then Friday night Sasha, Spencer and I went on a "date night" to a local restaurant. Saturday we went back to Kenoza Lake for another beautiful walk. Then Doreen and the kids came over to trick-or-treat in our neighborhood, which they do the Saturday before the 31st. This way it is still light out and they can control the activity better. It lasted from 5-7pm. It was great fun. Then Doreen and I left all 4 kids with the amazing Sasha and went into downtown Boston (the "Big Easy" to be exact) to celebrate our friend Jen's bachelorette night with her and some of her friends. Craziness! How do people do it? We danced our butts off, but I was sooo glad to get home! I have an even greater appreciation for my husband and son now!!! On Sunday Sasha went to yoga, while I tried to recover from my late night (and I didn't even drink!!!)
10/20/2003 update: This was an amazing weekend!!! On Friday night Sasha, Spencer and I went out on "date night". We went to Fuddruckers were we had a gift certificate. Then on Saturday we went on a wonderful family hike out at Kenoza Lake in Haverhill. This is one of our favorites, it goes along the lake, then on the return takes you up the hill and through some gorgeous forests. The distance is a little over 2 miles. On Saturday night we met up with some of our neighbors for a little going away party for some friends of ours. It was bitter sweet, and we are happy they aren't moving too far away. Sunday started out with Sasha cooking pancakes, then we went and ran errands. In the afternoon we met up with some other great neighbors of ours. We have really been fortunate with out little neighborhood! This morning Spencer said "hi" as clear as day...it blew us away, we are looking forward to all his little advances! Only a few more weeks till Atlanta!!!
10/13/03 update: Sasha, Spencer and I spent a wonderful weekend at my sister's house with her three awesome kids!!! We did soccer games, hiking, adventuring in the yard, swinging, reading stories and hanging out by the fireplace. Just delightful! And Spencer was an angel! He would have made an awesome 4th child. He was completely content to just be. This morning he spent a good 15 minutes laughing with Sasha and I! It was absolutely delightful, exactly what we needed on a Monday morning!!! I took some pictures this afternoon with him smiling...but it's hard to capture! Please check out the October 2003 page for the newest pictures!
10/9/03 update: Well we had our one month check up this past Monday. Spencer is 11.13 lbs. and 23 inches long. He is still healthy as can be and actually very much enjoyed his Doctor's visit...until they poked him with the needle. He was extremely sad! I must say I am personally dreading his next visit where he will get 4 shots!!! Talk about cruel and unusual punishment!!! And just for being cute! We are getting out a lot for walks and those fun filled errands. I am still hurting from the surgery and can't wait to be completely pain free again!!! We are spending this weekend at my sister's house. She and Ron are off to a wedding...and needed someone to watch their 3 kids. Should be quite interesting. We have a huge list of activities that the kids must do!!! Someone save us! We are also extremely excited about our first plane trip! We are all going down to Atlanta Georgia to visit my parents. This excursion involves all of us...including Doreen and her gang!!! Should be fun!
9/19/03 update: We just returned from the Doctor's office and the little guy appears to be as healthy as a horse! At two weeks they like to see breastfed babies back at their birth weight (in Spencer's case that would be 9.1 lbs.), but Spencer weighed in at a whopping 10.1 lbs. We also measured his height and he came in at 22 3/4 inches long!!! NBA here we come!!!
Sasha and I are very proud and excited to welcome our new baby boy into our family! His name is Spencer Alex. He was born via c-section after 7 hours of unsuccessful labor, on September 3, 2003 at 7:53pm. He weighed a whopping 9.1 lbs. and is 21" long. He is extremely sweet!!!
